On the way home from Tate (via Big Canoe), we were lucky enough to see a black bear cross the road in front of us. It stopped at the side of the road, so we stopped the car to get a good look at it. Unfortunately for Helen, the bear was not on her side of the car, so she didn't get to see it. Unfortunately for the rest of us, Helen burst into hysterical tears with no sign of let-up.
I tried what usually works: lying. "Don't worry, Helen. I expect we'll see a bear on your side very soon."
Thirty seconds later, we saw our second bear -- on Helen's side, of course!
On our way out of Big Canoe, we saw several deer jumping around next to people's houses (Yawn!).
