On Thursday Sylvia and the kids found a very young bird in a car park. It couldn't fly so they brought it home. This morning, after a couple of days of trying to get it to eat and drink, it died. The kids and I buried it next to the creek.

David was very upset about it.

The girls weren't at all bothered. In fact Helen made a point of telling me repeatedly that she wasn't "upset because of the bird dying". She even told me how much fun it was digging the bird up! (Perhaps she experiences life in rewind.)
