Day 7
This morning Rachel, Helen and I got to the riding stables 15 minutes late, at about 9.00 a.m. After filling out paperwork etc. we were mounted onto Cash (Rachel), Boots (Helen) and Cotton (me) for a 2 hour ride around The Garden of the Gods. Rachel and Helen seemed to enjoy the ride and their horses quite a lot at first but later changed their minds a little because their horses wouldn't do what they wanted them to do!
The trail was interesting (including a very short, steep descent over some rocks) and the scenery was lovely.
By the time we got back to the stables Rob and David were there to meet us. They had done some mountain biking, also in the Garden of the Gods.
Back in Manitou Springs Rob dropped me and the kids in town, so we could go to the glassblowing shop, while he brought the van back to the cottage. We met up again then went for lunch at Hells Kitchen Pizza, having tasted water from 4 of the 11 natural springs in the town.
After a short spell back at the house and with the weather looking menacing again, we decided we would visit Cave of the Winds. We got there to find the flashlight tour was not until 6.00 p.m. so we made a quick visit to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings first. The kids thoroughly enjoyed exploring the cliff dwellings and playing hide & seek. Rob and I found it very interesting.
Back at Cave of the Winds we did the flashlight tour then went back into town for a quick dinner before bed.
