Texas & Colorado Road Trip, July 2011
Day 1
We left Atlanta over an hour later than we had hoped and had not been on the road long before we realised we had left behind the middle seat for 2nd row, all headphones for the portable dvd player, the cable to connect dvd player to the car speakers, and my Croc sandals. Fortunately a potty break, at a Wal-Mart just outside Birmingham, Alabama, gave us the opportunity to pick up headphones and flip flops.
We got to the Sleep Inn, Tuscaloosa at about 7.50 p.m. local time, unloaded some bags then headed straight out for dinner at Chilis. Next door was "Books-a-Million" where I picked up a copy of The Secret Garden for David.
Our hotel is like a 1970s relic, complete with curved walls, fluorescent lights, textured wallpaper and a sliding bathroom door! Having a shower is like stepping into some kind of weird space capsule.
I'm wondering how well David will sleep on a roll-away bed that is about 6 inches lower in the middle than at the head and foot.
